DETAILS

AARCH and the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) are collaborating on a special program that highlights the history of ADK’s renowned Heart Lake complex in Lake Placid. The day will start at ADK’s historic Adirondack Loj, designed by Adirondack architect William Distin, with the earliest section built in 1927. ADK staff will share the history of the Heart Lake complex and the former and current Loj buildings. A tour of the Loj and the complex immediately surrounding it will follow the presentation. The group will gather for lunch, included in your registration, and will then snowshoe around Heart Lake. This will be a one-mile hike to see some of the Heart Lake lean-tos and the starting point of other trails into the High Peaks. This trip will be led by ADK's Outdoor Skills Coordinator and will take up to 2 hours. Lunch is included in the tour, but participants can also choose to stay for dinner and spend the night as part of a special discounted package price. Please contact the Loj directly to make dinner and overnight lodging reservations, 518-523-3441 ext. 1 or loj@adk.org. Register by 9:00 am on December 22. Refunds are only given if AARCH must cancel the event.
